Trump boards Air Force One for the last time as Biden is about to be sworn in
President Donald Trump said his final farewell at Joint Base Andrews earlier today.
President Donald Trump boarded Air Force One at 8:00 on Wednesday morning, (USA time) for his final ride on the military’s iconic aircraft, departing for Florida hours ahead of president-elect Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. Capitol later today.
Traditionally, the outgoing president is granted one last flight aboard the iconic blue military aircraft to a destination of his choice.
Vice-president Mike Pence, who was expected to attend Biden’s inauguration, did not attend the farewell ceremony. It was being said that the relationship between the two men had deteriorated over the last two weeks after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.
He thanked his family for their hard work, noting that they could have had a much easier life, but they chose to work for the people of America.
He also thanked Melania whom he described as very popular with the people.
Trump then went on to point out how good his administration had been for the country. According to him, they succeeded in rebuilding the military. Part of this achievement was the creation of Space Force, said Trump.
According to Trump his administration made medical care more available to military veterans who “were treated badly before” they took over the reign in 2016.
“We also got tax cuts, the largest tax cuts and reform in the history of the country by far,” Trump said.
He also praised his administration for giving jobs to Americans. Had it not been for the pandemic, they would have performed better in the field of job creation. “Our numbers is the best ever,” Trump boasted.
In spite of worldwide criticism for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in America, Trump maintained that they handled it perfectly well during the first wave as well as the second wave. He claimed the number of infections and deaths, which was one of the highest in the world, with 24 810 979 infections and 411 534 deaths.
If it wasn’t for the pandemic America’s economy would also have done much better, Trump claimed. He was adamant that in spite of the pandemic it was still the best economy ever. “I’m looking at elements of our economy that is a rocket ship up,” he said.
Trump also made a point of wishing the “people who suffered from the China virus” well. “We all know where it came from,” he said.
He then ended his speech by saying that they would be back in some form, referring to an earlier statement where he said he will stay politically active, although it was known that he had been advised against it after the incident at the Capitol.
