Tshwane mayor congratulates cycling trio selected to compete in Egypt
Bertie Anderson, Charlene du Preez and Aimee Armstrong will represent South Africa at the African Road and Track Championship in Cairo in March.

During the team announcement this week, Cycling SA confirmed that the three Pretoria cyclists would participate in several events, including road, time trial, individual time trial and endurance.
Tshwane mayor Randall Williams congratulated the trio for being selected to represent the country at the championship in Egypt.
“To see three of Tshwane’s own among the country’s finest on the continental stage fills us all with pride. We wish them every success at the African Championships,” he said.
“Over the past decade, Tshwane has become a destination of choice for road cycling and mountain biking, and the city regularly plays host to premier events, such as the Tshwane Classic and the South African National Road Championships in 2019.”
Pretoria is home to some of the country’s best mountain biking trail parks.
The city will host the Tshwane Green Ride, an initiative to sensitise communities to the importance of non-motorised transport as a safe and healthy mode of transport.
The race is set to take place on 23 May 2021.
