Teen critical after being knocked down by taxi in Pretoria

The teenage boy sustained life-threatening injuries and was found lifeless upon arrival.

A teenager who was knocked down by a minibus taxi in Montana on Monday afternoon is fighting for his life in hospital.

He was hit on the corner of Sefako Makgatho Drive and Enkeldoorn Street in Pretoria.

“Around 14:15, Medi-Edge volunteers were called to the scene of a serious pedestrian accident in Montana,” said Michael Gough of Medi Edge.

“Reports from the scene indicated that a child was knocked down by a minibus taxi.”

Gough said the teenage boy sustained life-threatening injuries and was found lifeless upon arrival.

“Advanced life support resuscitation (CPR) was initiated and a pulse was regained. The patient was transported to a nearby hospital in a critical condition,” he said.

“The exact cause of the accident is not clear at this stage, and will form part of the investigation by authorities.”
