Paramedics had difficulty in assessing the scene due to the dangerous flames.
The aftermath of a deadly crash on the N3 near Hidcote yesterday (May 10) has left seven people dead, three critically injured and 21 others with minor injuries.
At about 3.30pm, four vehicles, including a tipper truck and bakkie were part of this four-vehicle crash.
According to a spokesperson from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service Craig Botha, paramedics had difficulty in assessing the scene due to the dangerous flames.
“Once the fire was extinguished, emergency services sadly found seven patients that had been trapped in the bakkie and died in the fire,” said Botha.
At the time of publishing, the ruins of the bus and tanker continued to fire up at the scene and the crash resulted in a backlog of traffic along the N3.
