Eskom implements loadshedding on behalf of non-compliant City of Ekurhuleni
The power utility has been managing loadshedding in Ekurhuleni for the past few days, leaving residents outraged that their power is being cut for far longer than the normal loadshedding period.
Eskom announced today (June 3) that it has reached an agreement with the City of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng to implement loadshedding on its behalf after the metro failed to adhere to an electricity-supply agreement.
The city, according to Eskom, has been in violation of the agreement by not implementing the required loadshedding to its areas of supply, despite the power utility making numerous requests to the metro to comply.

Eskom says the city has committed to communicating the loadshedding agreement to residents and to publish revised load-shedding schedules.
The power utility has also urged customers from Ekurhuleni with loadshedding queries to contact the municipality directly.
