After receiving plenty of attention in Durban, the San Pablo Leather Corner Couch, that made headlines during the unrest and looting in KwaZulu-Natal, is currently ‘on tour’ in Gauteng.

The couch was looted from Leather Gallery store in Springfield. It was later found, in a damaged condition, at an informal settlement on Quarry Road in July.

“Unfortunately, the missing piece of our famous blue San Pablo Leather Corner Couch was never found. However, we did repair whatever damage we could, to the best that we could,” said the Leather Gallery’s co-owner, Greg Parry.

The famous blue couch is being featured in Leather Gallery stores at various malls.

“The blue San Pablo Leather Corner Couch was such a light in those dark times during the looting and went viral on social media and in the news, making people forget about the terrible things that were happening around them. Just for a moment, it lightened their moods,” he said.

After making an appearance at Clearwater Mall, the famous blue couch is now at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre until December 20.

“After that, we are planning on moving it to Kolonnade Shopping Centre and will confirm the exact dates soon,” said Parry.

Leather Gallery is considering organising a KwaZulu-Natal tour once the Gauteng tour is done and dusted. Leather Gallery will be posting updates on its social media so everyone can get a chance to snap a selfie with the famous couch.
