A classroom at Sekampaneng Primary is said to have collapsed on Monday.

Parents of Hammanskraal protested outside Die Hoërskool Wonderboom on Thursday, January 27 demanding that the department build a new school.

This was after a classroom at Sekampaneng Primary collapsed on Monday while others were waterlogged.

Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said that the district director did the receive the memorandum.

“We will dispatch structural engineers to conduct the necessary assessment. In the interim, we will deliver mobile units to assist to accommodate learners,” said Mabona.

“As a result, a number of protesters also turned up, wanting to hand over a mandate to the director of the district.

“This mandate has nothing to do with Die Hoërskool Wonderboom,” said Dreyer.

Ward councillor Elma Nel wanted to thank the police and security companies’ quick response.

“I received communication about a riot or a protest of some sort going on at Wonderboom.

“Moot police, Brinant security and Moot CPF reacted immediately when complaints came in.

Everything is under control,” said Nel.
