Search launched for Pretoria East woman who disappeared from home

She was last seen on April 15, before her partner left her at home to pick up food.

Police are still searching for a 28-year-old Garsfontein woman who was reported missing.

Corne Gardener was last seen by her partner on April 15, at their place of residence on a plot at around 13:00. Upon his return to the house at 15:00, after getting food, he found Corne missing, and their dog was in the house.

Friends, family, and police have since launched a search for Gardener.

Captain Motshele Mashabela, missing persons detective at Welbekend police, confirmed that the search for Gardener is still underway.

Mashabela says police have searched various places including with family and friends that Corne used to visit.

“There are no leads at the moment. We are still searching and conducting interviews,” he said.

“She has no vehicle of her own and no vehicle was seen collecting her.”

Gardener was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and cream boots. She has a fair complexion with light brown hair and blue eyes and is around 1.68m tall.

Her sister, Cindy Gardener, told Pretoria Rekord the family was having a difficult time trying to locate their missing sister. She says they were deeply concerned about her and hoped that they would soon get some feedback from the police.

“We are desperate. We need to find her,” she says.

“You always see it on TV and in movies and you never think it could happen to you. It is a terrible situation, it’s a terrible feeling. It’s not something I would wish on my enemy.”

Gardener called on anyone with information on her sisterֹs whereabouts to contact the family or the police.
