Durban North business owner stabbed repeatedly in robbery

Reports suggest the women was locking up her business premises when she was assaulted and stabbed.

A woman was assaulted and stabbed multiple times in a business robbery just off Umhlanga Rocks Drive on Saturday evening just after 18:40.

The woman suffered stab wounds to her head and face. She reportedly dragged herself out of her business when a member of the public spotted her.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said the member of the public then flagged down a security officer on patrol.

“It was ascertained that the woman was locking up her business premises when she was assaulted by a suspect armed with a knife. She was assaulted and stabbed repeatedly in the face and neck. The suspect then attempted to tie the woman up. He made off with several goods from her business and fled on foot,” Powell said.

He added that a case of attempted murder has been opened at Greenwood Park SAPS.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst explained that when paramedics arrived on scene, Marshall Security officers were rendering first aid.

“The patient sustained critical injuries due to being assaulted and stabbed numerous times. The woman was treated on scene by Netcare 911 emergency-care practitioners and once stabilised, was rushed through to hospital,” Herbst said.

It is understood she is currently in a stable condition in ICU.
