Steyn at 10 for Boks in Rugby Champs decider

Frans Steyn will wear the Springbok number 10 jersey, for the first time in 14 years, in the decisive Rugby Championship test against Argentina in Durban on Saturday.

Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber made only two changes to the starting team for Saturday’s final-round Rugby Championship test at Kings Park.

Experienced utility back Frans Steyn replaces the injured Damian Willemse at flyhalf, while Pieter-Steph du Toit returns to the starting line-up at flank in place of Franco Mostert, who will provide an impact off the bench.

The notable changes among the replacements are hooker Bongi Mbonambi, who makes a welcome return from a knee injury, and Kurt-Lee Arendse, who has completed his suspension following a dangerous tackle last month.

Nienaber has opted for a six-two split between forwards and backs on the bench, with Duane Vermeulen recalled to provide extra backup at loose forward.

Faf de Klerk and Arendse, meanwhile, will cover the backs, with De Klerk earmarked as the emergency flyhalf, while Arendse covers the back three.

Springboks: 15 Willie le Roux, 14 Canan Moodie, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Makazole Mapimpi, 10 Frans Steyn, 9 Jaden Hendrikse, 8 Jasper Wiese, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 6 Siya Kolisi (c), 5 Lood de Jager, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Malcolm Marx, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
