Formula 1: 2022 Singapore Grand Prix – what to expect
Formula 1 takes to the Marina Street Bay Circuit for 2022 Singapore Grand Prix. Title leader Max Verstappen is within reach of his second title as the Dutchman has the opportunity to wrap up his second Championship.
It seems almost certain, a flawless Red Bull Racing team, spectacular RB18 race car and superlative Max Verstappen have arrived in 2022 hungry for a back-to-back title at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Dutchman commands a lead of 115 points over Ferrari title rival Charles Leclerc while the Milton Keynes outfit is also comfortably in command of the constructors’ Championship by 139 points.
Despite never winning under the lights of the Marina Street Bay Circuit in the Hybrid V6 era, the stars seem to be aligning for Red Bull Racing as their Dutch hopeful has a chance of clinching his second title in two years at the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix. With five races still in hand, Lewis Hamilton was quoted stating “I definitely feel for the fans because, even for us, last year going right down to the wire was intense for everybody, so it’s never great when the season finishes early.”
After the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix, the Japanese, United States, Mexican, Brazilian and season finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix’ will follow and as such there is a sense of disappointment that the Championship could not go down to the wire with Ferrari or Mercedes presenting a sustainable challenge.
Things may not be as clear-cut as other races in the season though since the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix weekend will likely be accompanied by the presence of rainfall. Between today and Sunday, thundershowers are expected to drench the island country which may provide additional entertainment for viewers.
