German tourist shot and killed en route to Kruger National Park

A group of tourists were on their way to a lodge near the Kruger National Park’s Numbi Gate when they were attacked.

A German tourist, on his way to a lodge near Numbi Gate with three others, was shot and killed by a group of unknown men on Monday.

The four tourists were traveling in a Hyundai Staria en route to a lodge near Numbi Gate when they were stopped by three armed suspects using a VW Caddy.

“The suspects are said to have instructed the tourists to open the doors of their vehicle but when the driver locked all the doors, one of the suspects apparently shot him on the upper body through the window. It is further said that the driver sped off in reverse for about 100 meters before crashing into a wall,” said provincial spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

The victim was declared dead on the scene. The suspects reportedly sped off empty handed. A murder case was opened at Masoyi Police Station with an immediate launch of a manhunt.

“No one has been arrested as yet and police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the perpetrators to immediately call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via My SAPS APP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” he said.
