Watch: 7 die in head-on collision in Estcourt

The vehicles caught alight after the impact of the crash seriously injuring a further 15 people.

Tragedy struck on Ntabamhlophe Road in Estcourt last night when a taxi and car were involved in a head-on collision.

Following the impact of the crash, both vehicles caught alight.

 

Emergency workers rushed to the scene and, after an assessment, found that seven people had succumbed to their injuries and died on scene.

“15 patients had sustained injuries ranging from serious to critical. The patients were treated and stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment,” says Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service spokesperson Chantell Botha.

The cause of the fatal crash is being investigated.
