Woman killed in front of kid: Life sentence for Secunda dad
Christopher Watson stabbed Angelique Fourie (27) multiple times in front of their three-year-old daughter on November 7, 2021.
Christopher Watson from Secunda will serve life imprisonment for the murder of 27-year-old Angelique Fourie.
The sentence was handed down to Watson, who is known as Stoffie, in the Delmas High Court today.
Watson stabbed ex-girlfriend Fourie 13 times in her neck at her home in a Terra Nova Village complex in Trichardt on November 7, 2021. The murder was committed in front of the couple’s three-year-old daughter.
Watson fled the scene with their daughter who he later dropped off at his sister’s house on the morning of November 8, before fleeing the area.
He handed himself over to the Norkem Park Police Station in Kempton Park on November 9 and was escorted back to Secunda where he was held at Bethal Prison.
Watson appeared several times in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court and regional court before the matter was transferred to the Delmas High Court for trial.
As the one year mark since Fourie’s death nears, Watson heard his fate in court today.
He will be serving his life sentence as well as an additional three-year sentence, for assault, which will run concurrently.
