Croatia book their ‘spot’ in quarter finals and it’s farewell to feisty Japan

It was a closely contested affair between Japan and Croatia last night – and ultimately had to be decided by spot kicks. Experience was key as the overawed Blue Samurai penalty-kick takers were taught a lesson in calmness and composure as the Croats held their nerve to win the round of 16 match.

Beautiful Brazil bagged all their goals in the first half of their match against South Korea, which ultimately ended in a 4-1 defeat for the Asian contingent. In typical fashion, the Brazilians dazzled and held onto a comfortable win to march (or shall we say samba) into the next round.
