Eskom announces further changes to load-shedding schedule

Varied stages of power cuts can be expected daily until further notice.

Load-shedding will move to stage 3 from 16:00, Eskom has announced.

This stage of power cuts will remain in effect until 05:00 on Wednesday, when stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented until 16:00. Thereafter, stage 3 load-shedding will again be implemented and continue until 05:00 on Thursday.

The power utility adds that ‘until further notice’, stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented daily between 05:00 and 16:00.

Eskom says in a statement that the changes to the planned power cuts for the week are due to numerous breakdowns and the need to preserve emergency generation capacity.

The power utility explained that they currently have 4 394MW on planned maintenance, while a further 16 880MW is unavailable due to breakdowns.
