Johannesburg man nabbed for allegedly murdering his wife

The couple's child reportedly informed the neighbours that his father was covered in blood and that his mother was unwell.

Parkview Police Station commander Colonel Devan Govender welcomed the arrest of a man for a murder in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, on Tuesday.

“It is alleged that a 40-year-old suspect stabbed and killed his 40-year-old wife. The neighbour was informed by the couple’s child [who told the neighbour] that his father was full of blood and that his mother was not well. The neighbour rushed to the scene of the crime and forced entry into the house,” he said.

Govender added that upon entering the house, the neighbour saw the husband sitting in the lounge, and when asked where his wife was, he allegedly pointed to the bedroom.

“It was revealed that the body of the victim was covered with a blanket and blood was all over the bedroom floor. The paramedics were contacted and the [woman] was certified dead.”

The man appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, but the court outcome is unknown.
