Murder in Conville
On Friday, Conville Police arrested a 38-year-old suspect on a charge of murder in connection with the death of David Tarentaal (39) in Bruce Street, Borchards, at about 20:15.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, it is believed that the victim was standing in the street when a man approached him and demanded cash.
“The man thereafter stabbed the victim with scissors. He sustained a stab wound to the chest and died on scene,” says Spies.
The suspect was later tracked down and arrested. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court tomorrow, on a charge of murder.
Body found in CBD
George Police opened a murder docket after they found a man’s body, with several stab wounds, in Hibernia Street, on Friday morning at about 04:00.
Spies says police officers conducted vehicle patrols in the CBD when they made the discovery. The man was dressed in khaki pants and a maroon T-shirt at the time of the discovery and had several stab wounds to his chest and back. He was later declared dead by paramedics on scene.
Detectives assigned to the matter took three men into custody for questioning yesterday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.
“The investigation is still at a very early stage. The motive for the killing is yet to be determined and forms part of the ongoing police probe. Investigation into this attack continues,” adds Spies.
