Two arrested for murder of 14-year-old Pretoria boy

Officers who responded to a shooting incident found a young boy's lifeless body with a gunshot wound to his head.

The gruesome discovery of a young boy’s body in Eersterust, Pretoria, on Friday is one of a latest spate of violent crimes that have been noted in the area.

Sam Shibambo of the Eersterust police explains that in the latest incident, officers were called to a shooting incident on Floksie Road.

Upon arrival, the police found a dead 14-year-old boy with a bullet wound to his head.

“A preliminary investigation was conducted and the description of the suspects involved in the murder was established.

“A manhunt was immediately launched for the alleged murderers and less than 48 hours later, [on Sunday] two men were nabbed for the murder,” explains Shibambo.

The Eersterust SAPS acting station commander, Captain Malose Alpheus Boshiana, thanked the investigating team for their good work.

Boshiana further emphasised that murders of innocent children cannot be tolerated.

He says the investigating team sent a stern warning to would-be criminals, through the swift arrest of the two suspects.

Police statistics show that there has been an increase in violent crime in Eersterust over the past six months, and as a result, residents are urged to be vigilant at all times and report any criminal activities to the Eersterust police.
