Kidnapped Mpumalanga woman found safe, teen boy still missing

A 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old woman were kidnapped in Piet Retief on Sunday after a group of armed men stormed the boy's family's house.

Investigations continue to find kidnapped 15-year-old boy Luzuko Mbisi who on Sunday was taken from his home in Piet Retief.

Anthony Boucher from SA Investigations and Security based in Middelburg, who was requested by the family to assist with investigations, this morning confirmed that Aphumelele Nama (24) is safe at home, but that Luzuko is still missing.

Luzuko Mbisi (15) is still missing after he was taken during a house robbery.

Boucher previously explained that around 21:00 on Sunday, three armed men walked into a house located at 1725 Erasmus Group 10 in Piet Retief and robbed the occupants of their personal belongings.

One of the men collected the ATM cards from the family and forced them to write down the Pin codes for each card.

“During the incident, the men forced 15-year-old Luzuko and the female family friend, Aphumelele, into a white Golf 7 GTI (registration number: JCG 041 MP), and they left the residence.”

Aphumelele Nama (24) is safe at home.

The following morning at 03:30, R4 000 was withdrawn from Luzuko’s mother’s bank account at an Absa ATM in Ermelo, and at 03:53, an additional R1 000 was withdrawn from the same account.

The family had the ATM cards stopped shortly thereafter.

The kidnappers fled the scene in a white Golf 7 GTI (registration number: JCG 041 MP).

“The kidnappers have been using Luzuko to call some of his family members to ask them to transfer money to the bank account of Aphumelele. Threats have been made that Luzuko will be harmed if the family does not comply.”

Boucher mentioned that a case of kidnapping and house robbery was opened at Piet Retief Police Station.

He asked that if you see or have seen anything that could assist with the investigation, to call him on 071 290 7423.
