KZN cash-in transit heist suspect dies after getaway car crashes

Reports indicate that an armed guard was shot, another disarmed and another person – whose vehicle was used to flee the scene – was also injured.

One of the suspects reportedly responsible for a cash-in transit heist in Bergville (close to the Drakensberg Mountains in KZN) has died. It has been reported that the man died after they crashed their getaway vehicle.

Despite the collision, the other suspects (an unknown number of them) are still on the run.

It is believed that Fidelity armed guards were on their way to reload an ATM with cash when the suspects shot one guard and disarmed the other. They are said to have taken one bag of money.

It has been reported that they also shot another person, whose vehicle they sped away in.
