Durban security officer shot dead in fatal altercation

During a response to a noise complaint, a security guard was shot and fatally wounded, allegedly by a guest at a rental establishment.

A security guard was last night fatally shot at a residential high-rise building in the Point area of Durban after responding to a noise complaint in the building.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred at 22:00. “Reports from the scene are that a tussle broke out, allegedly between a security officer and a guest, resulting in the security officer sustaining a gunshot wound.”

Paramedics found the security guard in a dire condition. “He was rushed by his colleagues to the nearby Addington Hospital, however, he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Van Reenen adds that SAPS officers were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.
