Sandy-Lee Ward's actions after being robbed on Wednesday, has been applauded by social media users after footage of the incident went viral.

With several thoughts running through her mind, Sandy-Lee Ward drove through the closed boom gates of a mall on The Bluff, Durban, after being robbed of her handbag during a botched hijacking.

She had been beaten and managed to fight off her assailants while still having her seat belt on, during the attempted hijacking on Wednesday.

Seconds after she drove her car through the closed boom gates, Ward’s vehicle, a Toyota Tazz, crashed into one of the perpetrators.
