ATM bombed in Edenvale

Criminals used explosive in an attempt to get access to cash inside an ATM in the East Rand.

Police in Edenvale are calling on the public to remain vigilant as the festive season approaches after an ATM bombing in Eastleigh yesterday.

According to Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, the communications officer for Edenvale SAPS, initial investigations indicate that an unidentified explosive was used in the bombing. The explosion did not breach the main safe.

Surveillance footage captured three suspects involved in the crime, which is currently being scrutinised by the investigating officers.

As the festive season approaches, Edenvale SAPS is taking this incident with utmost seriousness. Mashile emphasised, “The deployment of all police officers at all times, along with our stakeholders, will be prioritised.”

He urged anyone with relevant video footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
