Watch: Severe thunderstorm wreaks havoc in Mpumalanga

A storm that hit Middelburg this morning caused much destruction – a video and photos captured the power of the rain, hail and wind.

A severe thunderstorm promised for Middelburg in Mpumalanga yesterday, by the South African Weather Service, made its arrival early this morning, bringing down trees and causing multiple road closures.

Motorists are warned that the N11 (Loskop) between the Protea intersection and the Harry Gwala turn-off has been partially blocked off after the copse of pine trees lining both sides of the road was mowed down by strong winds.
