The man was helping a critically injured crash victim when another car crashed into his truck.

A tow truck driver was killed last night while attending an accident scene on the N2 near Ballito.

According to Samantha Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue, the tow truck driver was helping a critically injured person from a single-vehicle accident on the highway’s southbound lane, when another car crashed into his tow truck.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

IPPS sent their condolences to the tow truck’s family. In a Facebook post, IPPS said ambulance services and tow truck drivers often work hand in hand on scenes as first responders.
