Load-shedding is back this afternoon

Unplanned outages and the delayed return to service of Koeberg Unit 1 mean that the lights will go off for some at 16:00 today.

Stage 1 load-shedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until 05:00 on Monday. Thereafter, load-shedding will vary between stages 1, 2 and 3 for the remainder of the week.

Eskom made this announcement just after 13:00 today, saying load-shedding has been brought back earlier than expected due to a shortage in generating capacity.

Load-shedding will be as follows:

  • Today: 16:00 – 24:00, stage 1
  • Monday: 00:00 – 05:00, stage 1
  • Monday: 05:00 – 16:00, stage 2
  • Monday: 16:00 – 24:00, stage 3
  • Tuesday: 00:00 – 05:00, stage 3
  • Tuesday: 05:00 – 16:00, stage 1
  • Tuesday: 16:00 – 24:00, stage 3

Tuesday’s pattern will be repeated until Eskom notifies users of any changes.
