Load-shedding ramped up until the weekend

Blackouts will continue throughout the weekend with Eskom predicting an increase in generation capacity on Sunday.

Eskom says stage 3 power cuts are on the cards until Saturday due to a shortage in generation capacity.

The power utility says unplanned outages as well as the delay in returning units, such as Koeberg Unit 1, to service are to blame.

Here is your load-shedding outlook until Sunday:

  • Stage 3: Today 16:00 – Saturday 05:00
  • Stage 2: Saturday 05:00 – Sunday 05:00
  • Stage 1: Sunday 05:00 – 16:00
  • Stage 2: Sunday 16:00 – midnight

Eskom says an estimated 4 700MW of generation capacity is expected to return to service on Sunday evening.
