Back to stage 6: Eskom announces load-shedding increase
Rolling power cuts will be ramped up from tonight.
Increased load-shedding will kick in at 20:00 as Eskom aims to replenish its emergency reserves.
Stage 4 power cuts will continue until 20:00 and then be ramped up to stage 6, which will continue until 05:00 tomorrow.
“The pattern of implementing stage 4 from 05:00 until 20:00 and stage 6 from 20:00 until 05:00 will be repeated daily until Saturday morning. Unplanned outages increased by 401MW to 15 825MW, while planned maintenance increased by 555MW to 6 835MW of generation capacity in the past 24 hours,” says Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.
