Mossel Bay grandpa applies for bail after rape charges

The elderly man was arrested at his house on November 26, on charges of rape and sexual assault of his granddaughter.

A 63-year-old man will today know if he gets bail after he has been accused of raping his 13-year-old granddaughter.

The suspect will appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court following his bail application yesterday.

He has been in custody since his arrest on November 26.

It is alleged that the suspect raped his 13-year-old granddaughter on three occasions at his house in Mossel Bay.

He is facing charges of rape and sexual assault.

Detectives attached to the Mossel Bay Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit made the arrest. The elderly man made his first appearance in the local magistrate’s court on November 28.
