Load-shedding to remain suspended until tomorrow morning
Eskom gives an update on generation constraints and the schedule for the week.
Good news just in from Eskom as the power utility has announced that power cuts will not be implemented at 16:00 like previously communicated.
Load-shedding was suspended at 21:00 last night, and was set to be implemented again from 16:00. However, spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says an improvement in the availability of generation capacity, coupled with ‘adequate emergency reserves’, will mean that power cuts remain suspended until 05:00 tomorrow.
“From Monday to Thursday, stage 3 load-shedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 and stage 4 load-shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00. This is due to the normal expected increase in demand of electricity during the week and an increase in planned maintenance,” she explains.
Mokwena states that 12 884MW of generation capacity is currently offline due to unplanned outages, while 7 319MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.
