4 dead following head-on collision in Vaal Marina

A horror crash between two vehicles claimed several lives in the Vaal Marina over the weekend.

The Vaal Marina SAPS have launched a culpable homicide case docket after four people were killed on the R54 in a head-on collision between two motor vehicles on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Constable Tshilidzi Dehuis says that police were alerted by community members and immediately rushed to the scene.

“On arrival, a brown Toyota Fortuner and a white Mazda Drifter were found on the scene. It is suspected that both vehicles collided with one another head-on.

“Unfortunately, two people that were inside the Fortuner succumbed to their injuries while a passenger was taken to hospital.

“The other vehicle only had one occupant who sadly passed away.”

Dehuis says that the three deceased were taken to the Sebokeng Mortuary by Pathology Services. The fourth patient died in hospital on Sunday.

“It is not clear what the cause of the accident was as there were no eyewitnesses on the scene,” says Dehuis.
