Taxi boss and 2 bodyguards killed in drive-by shooting in Delmas
A woman who was with the bodyguards was injured and is in a critical but stable condition.
The chairman of the Delmas Taxi Association and two of his bodyguards were shot and killed in a drive-by shooting around 20:30 yesterday.
The incident happened on the corner of Shabangu and Rakwena streets in Botleng, Delmas.
When police arrived on the scene, two people were found lying on the road and one in a vehicle on the scene.
All three people sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead on the scene.
According to Captain Carla Hartley, spokesperson for Delmas SAPS, the taxi boss was driving his blue Ford Mustang escorted by his bodyguards in a Toyota GD6 double cab bakkie when a vehicle approached from the opposite side of the road.
A shootout occurred and the three men were fatally wounded.
Two rifles and two pistols were found on the scene. It is believed that it belonged to the deceased bodyguards.
According to the police, there was a lot of used rifle and pistol cartridges found on the scene.
A woman who was in the Toyota bakkie sustained several gun wounds and was rushed to the Bernice Samuel Hospital in Delmas.
She is in a serious, but stable condition.
Hartley stated that the shooters are unknown at this stage.
