Five men appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the murders of Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known as AKA, and Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

Five of the seven suspects appeared on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and five counts of attempted murder.

In February 2023, Forbes and Motsoane were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

The appearance of the suspects, Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36) and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29), comes after Police Minister Bheki Cele briefed the media on Monday about the series of arrests they had made in the past few months.

Two of the arrests were made in eSwatini, just outside South Africa, where the two suspects are presently – they will be brought back to the country.

The NPA said the court appearances follow a collaboration between them and the SAPS through prosecutor-guided investigations.

Present in court were Cele, KZN police commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, and Forbes’ father, Tonny, among many other members of the public who filled the courtroom.

The matter was provisionally remanded to March 6 for bail verification. The men will remain in custody in the interim.
