Police investigate arson after fire damages Pietermaritzburg school
Learners from Bhekuximba High School were sent home after a fire destroyed school files, electronic equipment and food supplies.
A second incident of arson at a high school in Vulindlela, Pietermaritzburg, has raised fears of a sinister agenda against the current school leadership and now police are scrambling to uncover the motive and identify the perpetrators before they strike again.
Learners from Bhekuximba High School had to be sent home yesterday after arriving to find the principal’s office had been burnt, destroying school files, electronic equipment and food supplies to feed the learners.
The perpetrators appear to have jumped the school fence and broke the burglar gate to gain entrance into the principal’s office. It is believed the fire was started in the early hours of yesterday morning.
