Truck recovered after ‘blue light robbery’ on N2 near Port Shepstone
Hijackers apparently used 'blue lights' to pull a truck over to the side of the road, later stripping its insides in search of a tracker.
A security company, with the help of the SAPS K9 Unit Port Shepstone, swiftly recovered a truck travelling along the N2, that was reportedly stopped by occupants in a double cab Ford Ranger.
The occupants in the Ranger apparently used ‘blue lights’ to pull the truck over to the side of the road.
Hendrik Ludick of Airtrack X-Treme Security says the truck’s driver and the conductor were then taken and placed in the bakkie.
The hijackers drove in the truck and continued along the N2, westbound, while the bakkie headed north towards Durban.
“The victims, fortunately unharmed, were dropped along the N2 Malangeni area,” he adds.
Ludick says the inside of the truck was stripped as the hijackers searched for the tracking device.
Fortunately, the tracking device was well installed, and the truck and its cargo were safely impounded in Port Shepstone.
Warrant Officer Dez Theunissen was joined by Sergeant Jaquelina Marais who utilised her new K9 dog, Maverick, in the search.
No arrests were made.
