2 arrested for assaulting, robbing couple in KZN

While two men are behind bars for an assault on an elderly couple, the third perpetrator is still at large.

Two of the three men who allegedly assaulted and robbed an elderly couple in their home in Greytown in KZN on Friday have been arrested.

The men, aged 35 and 38, were arrested in the Gugulethu and Nhlalakahle townships.

The third man is still at large.

Umzinyathi District police spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana says the two people who were assaulted, aged 64 and 70, were beaten and seriously injured in their home in Cathcart Street.

“An undisclosed amount of money was taken, as well as a safe with a firearm inside. A case of house robbery has been opened,” says Nkwanyana.

He adds that the Umzinyathi District Task Team and Field Security worked tirelessly to trace the suspects.
