Foreign national arrested for alleged rape of child (10) in Limpopo
Children playing in a yard alerted their parents when they saw another child being raped.
A 29-year-old foreign national will soon appear before the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl at a rental residence in Nkowankowa, Limpopo.
SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, also believed to be a foreign national, was allegedly raped by the male suspect on Friday.
“The incident was reportedly witnessed by children playing inside the yard, who informed their parents,” he says.
The victim’s guardian was alerted and the child was taken to a local hospital for examination, where medical personnel confirmed signs of rape.
“The incident was reported to police on Saturday. A case of rape was opened and a manhunt for the suspect began, which resulted in his apprehension in the Ritavi policing area yesterday.”
Police are still investigating the incident.
