A neighbour has described the harrowing moment she grabbed her four-year-old daughter and hid under the bed as gunshots rang out during a confrontation between KZN police and four suspects in the Camperdown area.

Four cash-in-transit robbery suspects were shot dead during a shoot-out with police in Camperdown, just outside Pietermaritzburg, early this morning. Four firearms were recovered at the scene.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, told The Witness she was alerted by her dogs’ frantic barking and initially thought the gunshots were right outside her door.
