Public warned against spreading ‘inflammatory’ statements ahead of elections
A voice note is doing the rounds on social media claiming that 11 'comrades' were shot in KwaXimba in KZN.
The police in KZN have issued a stern warning to residents against making or spreading inflammatory statements that could incite violence or create panic in communities.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says this comes after a voice note circulating on social media platforms made unsubstantiated claims of political-related violence in the province.
“Police would like to place it on record that [a] voice note about the shooting of 11 people at KwaXimba, who the person behind the voice classifies as ‘comrades’ is devoid of the truth,” Netshiunda explains.
