Anxious moment as fisherman’s ski-vee capsizes in Port Shepstone
Despite emergency services being on hand to assist, a fisherman got himself safely to shore.
A local fisherman found himself stranded in the sea near the Port Shepstone lighthouse and popular fishing spot The Block, when his ski-vee boat capsized late yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services, including paramedics, SAPS Search and Rescue, and crew from the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) responded to the call.
Glen Preston from Med-Evac was onboard the NSRI sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn.

He was with a crew from the NSRI who responded by sea to help the fisherman. Other emergency service personnel waited on shore to assist.

“The fisherman managed to swim to the beach. His vessel also washed ashore. He was assessed and found to be uninjured,” says Preston.
