Ditebogo Phalane’s murder: Accused back in court

Two of the suspects accused of murdering five-year-old Ditebogo Phalane are due to again appear in court today.

Ditebogo Phalane (5) was shot and killed in front of his dad in a hijacking in the driveway of their Soshanguve home on May 10.

An unconfirmed number of gunmen allegedly hijacked the father’s bakkie and shot Phalane, who died in hospital.

Two suspects, aged 29 and 30, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court last week. The court case was postponed to May 30 for legal representation and further investigation for bail.

The other two suspects made a brief appearance in court, one at the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court and the other at the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court. Their case is due to continue today.

According to Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Wendy Nkabi, after receiving information, the team worked tirelessly to find the other suspects linked to the boy’s murder.

Family spokesperson Gift Makoti says the family is heartbroken and appeals to anyone with information to come forward and assist the authorities in their investigation.

Phalane was laid to rest two weeks ago.
