K-word video: DA suspends MP Renaldo Gouws

The DA has suspended one of its members of Parliament amid an online petition calling for his removal.

The DA Federal Executive has suspended MP Renaldo Gouws after a video containing racial rants made rounds on social media.

Close to 60 000 people have signed an online petition demanding the removal of the recently sworn-in MP from the National Assembly.

In a statement, the party’s federal council said it has established that the video, in which Gouws uses execrable language including the K-word, is genuine and not fake as initially suspected.

“The DA Federal Executive has therefore suspended Mr Gouws with immediate effect.”
