8 Brooklyn Mall jewellery store robbers sought

Robbers fired several shots while escaping with an undisclosed amount of jewellery from a Pretoria mall.

Police have launched a manhunt following a business robbery at a jewellery store at Brooklyn Mall in the east of Pretoria on Monday.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo says a group of about eight armed men robbed the jewellery store in the afternoon.

He says the employees were held at gunpoint and the suspects fired shots as they were leaving the shopping mall.

“Luckily no injuries were reported,” Masondo says.

Masondo says the robbers ransacked the store and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

The value of the stolen items is not yet known.

Police have opened a case of business robbery and are on the lookout for the suspects.

Mall spokesperson Monica Brits confirmed the robbery.

She says police were at the scene and an investigation is underway.

“We confirm that no injuries were reported and trade resumed as normal,” says Brits.

She says the mall is taking the robbery seriously.

“The safety and well-being of our shoppers, staff, and tenants remains our top priority.”

She thanked everyone for their quick action and co-operation.
