A taxi transporting leaners lost control and hit a wall and a tree at the corner of Lighthouse and Moffat roads on The Bluff in Durban yesterday afternoon.

Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, says paramedics arrived to find a scene of chaos.

“The taxi, carrying children aged between seven and 12, had veered off course, resulting in multiple injuries among the young passengers,” says Jamieson.

Emergency response teams, including additional ambulances and advanced life support paramedics, were quickly dispatched to manage the situation.

Thirteen children were treated at the scene for various injuries before being transported to several hospitals across Durban.

No fatalities were reported.

The cause of the accident is not known.

The police were on the scene and have launched an investigation into the events leading up to the crash.

Six children die in school bus, train accident

Another accident involving schoolchildren occurred last night when a bus and train collided just after 16:00 yesterday on the R104 Road near Mafube Village between Wonderfontein and Arnot in Mpumalanga.

Five children died in the accident and another passed away in hospital.

The bus was transporting roughly 30 learners, 20 of who were injured.
