Taxi carrying scholars crashes on The Bluff

It is believed that a total of 13 scholars sustained various injuries.

IN a tragic accident that occurred just after 14:00 today (July 31), a taxi transporting scholars lost control and collided into a wall and a tree at the corner of Lighthouse and Moffat roads on The Bluff.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, reported that paramedics arrived to find a scene of chaos. “The taxi, carrying children aged between seven and 12, had veered off course, resulting in multiple injuries among the young passengers,” said Jamieson.

Emergency response teams, including additional ambulances and Advanced Life Support Paramedics, were quickly dispatched to manage the situation. Thirteen children were treated at the scene for various injuries before being transported to several hospitals across Durban for further medical care. No fatalities were reported.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this stage. The police were present at the scene and have launched an investigation into the events leading up to the crash.
