Two women and a man, using a deceptive ploy by pretending to be in search of old children’s clothes and seemingly drugging their victim by rubbing something on her face, robbed a house in Struisbult, Springs recently.

Springs SAPS communications officer Sergeant Themba Tshabalala says the victim was outsider her house attending to a dirty bin on August 2 when two women approached her, asking for old children’s clothes.

“The complainant alleged that she went inside the house to look for the clothes, and one of the women followed her,” said Tshabalala.

“The woman then claimed there was something on the complainant’s face and proceeded to wipe it with a cloth, which caused her to feel dizzy, and she sat down in the dining room.”

Tshabalala added that during this time, the second woman, accompanied by an unidentified man armed with a firearm, entered the home and stole several items,

The stolen items included a 55-inch LG plasma TV, a 43-inch Sony plasma TV, five door handles, two cellphones, an amplifier, a kettle, an iron, and cash, with an estimated total value of R21 800.

The complainant was not injured. The Springs SAPS is investigating a house robbery case.
