4 cops facing theft charges granted bail in Barberton Magistrate’s Court

Law enforcement officers are facing charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice.

The four Barberton officers arrested for allegedly stealing R1.6m from a zama zama paymaster’s house appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

They were released on R5 000 bail each on strict conditions, which include not committing any offence, not interfering with the investigating officer, not interfering with witnesses and being restricted to the Barberton area. They were also instructed to surrender their passports.

The case was postponed to January 29.

The four sergeants, Danisile Mahlangu (47), Mandla Ndlovu (49), Bongani Dlamini (40) and Doctor Zulu (42), were arrested on Thursday, November 14.

They are facing charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice.
