Two suspects, who are linked to the attempted murder of South African Revenue Service (SARS) advocate Coreth Naude in uMhlanga in July, have been arrested in Cape Town last week.

The suspects, aged aged 28 and 29 years, were arrested in Cape Town on December 17 and will be transported to KZN for their court appearance this week.

Provincial SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda in July said that two suspects approached Naude and opened fire while her vehicle was standing at a boom gate of a hotel parking lot.

She managed to drive to safety and was rushed to hospital following the attempted hit.

The suspects fled in a Toyota Corolla with cloned number plates.

“Investigations led the team to two suspects, aged 28 and 29 years old, who were arrested in Mitchells Plain and Milnerton respectively,” explained Netshiunda.

The suspects are set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court this week facing a charge of attempted murder.

Netshiunda said the case had been assigned to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime: Murder and Robbery Unit.

After the attempted hit, SARS Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter, condemned the attempted assassination.

“Acts such as these and those who perpetrate them must be resisted and defeated by all of us working together for the betterment of our country and ensuring that none is above the law…we will not be intimidated by such acts of crime and cowardice,” he said at the time.
