Woman jumps from moving car to escape alleged abductor in Pietermaritzburg
A ride-hailing service driver allegedly began behaving erratically and refused to stop his vehicle to let his passenger out.
A woman sustained serious injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle in a desperate bid to escape an alleged abductor in Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg.
An article published by The Witness says that according to a statement issued by Mi7 National Group, emergency services were dispatched at around 16:00 yesterday following reports from community groups about a woman who leapt from a vehicle on Alexandra Road.
“Mi7 National Group’s Emergency Medical Services responded to find the woman severely distressed, suffering from multiple abrasions and fractures.
“Advanced life support treatments were administered at the scene before she was transported to a nearby hospital for further care.”
According to the statement, preliminary information suggests the woman was en route to work via a ride-hailing service when the driver reportedly began behaving erratically.
“Despite her repeated requests to stop, the driver allegedly refused and continued past her workplace.
“In a desperate move, the woman flung herself from the moving vehicle to escape. Witnesses, including members of a security company, managed to bring the vehicle to a stop.”
The incident was reported to the police for further investigation. Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the driver or any charges filed.
Mi7 medics transported the woman to the hospital.
